First the reminders:
The Creative Mixed Media Journaling Techniques online class starts on Friday September 5th. This is a 12 week class that covers a wide range of fabric and paper techniques perfect for using to create art journals, art quilts, mixed media pieces and more.
All of my online classes are currently open for registration and you'll find all of them here.
Fibre&Stitch issue 5 is scheduled to be released this week! It's a huge issue (72 pages) packed with a wide variety of techniques and projects.
This issue has a terrific line up of guest authors including Liz Berg, Sonja-Lee Austin, Cas Holmes, Marcia Crookes, Alma Stoller, Elis Cooke & more! You can see the table of contents for this issue here. You can purchase a single copy of this issue or a subscription to Fibre&Stitch here.
Okay now onto some new work! I've been wanting to try making some cased in binding books and so I set some time aside this weekend to try making a few books:
I decided to start small so this book measures 5 1/2" x 6" x 1 1/2". Here's a view of the top:
Once I had made this one and gotten the hang of this technique I made a couple more:
6"x7"x 1/2"
and:
Don't you just love that paper I used on this one? This one measures 7"x10"x1"
If you're interested in learning how to create this type of book I highly recommend this new book by Heather Weston:
This is an excellent book. Nice clear photographs and easy to understand and follow written directions. ISBN: 1592534554

You inspire me to try a book. I've made them in the past and know how time consuming they are. Maybe in January!
Thanks for the reminder.

I love this postmarks book. What a great idea. The green one has a serene impression. Like it also.

I want that binding book so much. I've seen it on shelves, and considering our love of journals, it seems like a great investment. And your own try at it is so beautiful! :)
