The other day I went looking for a piece of paper to write down a shopping list on. Now you would think that wouldn't be a hard thing to find in this house where blank journals and notebooks are everywhere and the paper stash in the studio now rivals that of the fabric stash. But do you think I could lay my hands on a piece of scrap paper to jot down a few things on? Nope, and I ended up writing the list on the back of a junk mail envelope . This morning when I stepped into the studio I thought why not put some of the scrap papers I have piling up to good use and pulled down the bin that has all my trimmings and paper cut offs:
Most of these are cut off trimmings from scrapbook papers that come 12" square and most have a decorative print on one side but are just plain white on the other. So I cut stacks of them into manageable sizes about 3 1/2" x 6" and bound them together with my Zutter binder:
Now I've got notebooks all over the house, next to the phones and easily found when I want to jot down the grocery list. On some of them I can write on both sides of the papers because the prints are either solid colors or the decorative print itself is fairly muted. If you don't have a binding machine but want to make some notebooks from your scraps you could use binder clips, rings or even paper clips:
It's a great way to use up the scraps and give your lists a little pizazz!
Have a terrific weekend everyone!

Hi from the UK, Sue, love all your ideas! I've been meaning to ask you - could you tell me where you get your little embellishment charms/toppers (?) from? The copper or pewter ones with a single word or a short phrase on them? I'd love to use some of these in my card-making and I've looked at your links to the shops you use, but can't find these exact things (maybe I'm looking in the wrong place!)
Thanks for any help you can give.
Best wishes from across the pond.

Oh, great to see another scrap paper note book maker ;0) Roger raids my bins to make them. Never used the paper clips like that though. I'm sure he will now.

What a great idea - I just may have to get one of those binder thingies. They've come out with a new version - I'm thinking seriously of waiting and getting that one. All your notepads are great.

Another good idea. I haven't worked on the fabric ones for my quilt group, so this is what I will do.
