The other day when I had the dye supplies out I took the opportunity to add a couple of silk velvet scarves to the dye baths...

And this next one I did by just squirting random colors on the scarf and then let it bake for a while in the sun covered with a piece of plastic so it wouldn't dry out too fast:

I love the velvets; it is such a scrumptious fabric. Love that rich blue. A woman from Norway in one of my QU dyeing classes dyed velvet similar to the orange and brown colors in your second scarf and made a dress out of it for her son's wedding. It looked fabulous!
I've only dyed 2 pieces of velvet - one in a shibori style and a one yard piece in deep green. Still don't know what I'm going to do with them, maybe a purse. Would eventually like to make a vintage style velvet cape. I know of an exquisite pattern if you're interested.
