Journal Quilt #11

"fever"
011
Background and binding are paper towels, flowers are silk under a layer of organza, machine stitched.

It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
~Mark Twain

Yea I've got spring fever all right and much to my dismay we're supposed to get a few more inches of snow tonight in New England.   Will I ever get to pack away my wool socks?!

The flames of friendship...

005
Silk fusion 8 1/2" x 11", machine quilted

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. ~Albert Schweitzer

I've been very fortunate over the last year since I've started blogging to have met so many wonderful inspiring people from all over the world.  A lot of these people have become good friends even though we are separated by so much physical distance.   Thanks to all of you who continue to visit my blog and leave comments (and thanks to those who visit but don't comment too!).  Your comments and visits continue to inspire and light my inner spirit of creativity.

Journal Quilt #2

This weeks journal quilt:

002

Titled "Branching Out"  Raw edge applique w free motion stitching.

I've gotten several questions about the faces that I showed in my last post so I thought I'd include a little more info about how I did them for everyone.  I melted some UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) in a melting pot and then poured it into  some Sculpey E-Z release flexible push molds that I bought at my local Joann's craft store.  Once it hardened and cooled I just popped them out of the molds.
